334 MOBB G&W INTERVIEW
334 is the montgomery area code but it also means 10 mo brothas buried (3+3+4=10 mo-b.b. on some arm-leg-leg-arm-head shit), thats like 334 mobb themselves reppin bama nonstop while gettin w atl too, me comin from ga i can hear that shit. theyre v lyrical when alot of get buck style groups arent now but they still come hard on every track, all their beats and outside productions are professional & varied while stayin dirty too. earlier this year they were workin w raheem (atl ex-rapalot mc responsible for signing drama & dem franchize boyz) and his tight 2 def label but it fell through, right now their two big underground singles are 'uh oh they fightin' ft t-rock who used to be in 3-6 and the 'i aint no killa' remix ft david banner & bone crusher and the HERE IN DA GUTTA mixtape shd drop sometime before the end of the year.
i talked to 334 abt raheem, mixtapes, the south, 2pac, production and some other shit. this is part 1 of the interview -
G&W: whats the deal right now with yall and raheem the dream? last i heard it broke up, he had an aneurysm and ws in a coma... i know he had something to do w the come up of other southern rappers like drama so why do you think it didnt work out w yall?
334 MOBB: well it didnt work out with raheem because some relationships he should of had he lost due to treating past artist like shit. i mean we still have no hard feelings against him as a person but as a businessman, what can i say? he wants artists to sign contracts and take 75% of my advance and we get 25% when he puts no work in, and we had a problem with that, we makin the hits, singing, rapping and producing them, make it so bad, the album we did for raheem we tryed to get a guest feature and he said mane nah thats too much money... well we went with it, and we have a CLASSIC album by the way, we did for raheem...
us and raheem would ride back to our house from the studio bumpin these new songs we done and he said 'man yall are the best group ive ever worked with', i said 'you know what rah? you an alright dude' but those same words came back to hit us in the ass when certain folks in the ATL was like 'man dont nobody fuck with raheem round here', we said mane you lying, they be like 'man that nigga a snake'. we never paid it no mind until we seen we were pushing our record ourself, dont get me wrong he would do the mail-outs to the radio stations and shit but he wouldnt follow up with em, and some radio stations would just play the fuckin records when he would go up to do an interview then after we leave they wouldnt even bump it no more. im like, mane, raheem know how to work records, damn he been doing this all his life, i guess he expect a free ride now? well, shit, not from us. truth is we used to go on the road with raheem and fans used to be yelling like 'raheem when your new record gonna drop' and he let that shit go to his head so in return we, beat kingz, produced a record for him called 'good pussy'. mane aint nobody wanna hear that shit raheem talking bout on there! so i guess he called hisself puttin us on a backburner to push his new single... hahaha joke was on him when 107.9 played his record and it got dissed. then mane, we just said fuck it... somehow he started dealing with franchize and i couldnt blame him because at the time they was getting major spins on radio and they came by the house to hear some of our beats...
so mane we just cut it off with raheem. he a good dude but he has never dealt with a group of young men that had intelligence. but we prayed for raheem and he is out of the coma and back too work we will see him at the top!!!!
G&W: that shit abt good pussy as funny man, i never even knew dude put that shit out but i got his old cd from 95 and its got some fucked up nasty joints on it too, he records himself havin phone sex and shit, im sure yalls beat ws tight tho... i heard that aint a killa remix joint with bonecrusher and david banner, how did yall end up working with all them on your debut record?
334 MOBB: we hooked up with bone crusher and david banner through coco brother at hot 107.9 in the ATL, banner a cool nigga and just a real nigga, and bone crusher real cool too...
G&W: yall are workin w rasheeda and killer mike now too right?
334 MOBB: killer mike just a real dude that nigga is real down to earth and straight to the point, got a lot of fire up under him and he recognizes 334 mobb talent. he tell me sometime when i call him, man yall boys is gon make it, yall hungry.
G&W: what rappers are you most dyin to work with?
334 MOBB: we want to work with anthony hamilton, and scarface, and bun b... you know, cats that are tight.
G&W: so who are yall working w now, labels or for promotions, will it be the same 334 mobb album yall had before or are yall recording new shit?
334 MOBB: we are recording new shit everyday, producing new beats and all that good stuff. right now we got a record called uh oh they fightin, featuring t-rock formerly of 3-6, mane its a club banger, it might be banned in clubs! but some of our original album songs will come out on our mixtape which is coming soon, called here in da gutta, mixed by dj judgemental, features dj jelly, dj drama, bone crusher, david banner... infinique from dungeon family, a whole host of others... right now we are promoting ourselves as black drop entertainment and beat kingz productions... man we know faith of a mustard seed move mountains so we hoping to move the earth with our new shit, we know we hot folk, matter fact we recieved a call from an a&r at def jam sayin they are looking at us, they wanted our ages and every mixtape we on. so we all hope something will pop, hey mane we from ALABAMA we need somebody from here to blow the fuck larger then life.
G&W: aight, talkin bout reppin bama i know yall moved from there to ATL like alot of groups seem to be doing nowdays, do you think it helps to be associated with what alot of ppl say is the capitol of southern rap??
334 MOBB: we aint move to ATL, see our parents did first we was like 18 and 16 we aint have no choice. we told our dad we aint wanna move we wanted to stay in the gump. so at 18 I kept the house they left and I was paying rent tryna sell beats and sell weed here and there to keep lights and shit on. it got hard folk so after our boy got locked up for 25 years that was also stayin with us, we said fuck, we moving up to the ATL with our mom and pops. next thing I know we get a call saying, mane yall shit on the street, i said damn. and we aint like a lot of groups, we aint move because of this and that, we aint have no choice folk! and i guess it helps because i done talk to some pd's at radio stations and i be like, mane we got play in alabama they say, so? then i be like, mane we got bds spins on ATL radio... then they tend to get more friendly, its crazy.
G&W: yeah the word bama has negative connotations in hiphop already, ppl use it to describe someone whos actin country or ignorant do you think yall can change the meaning of bama?
334 MOBB: we dont think we will, we KNOW we will change the meaning of this term that some dumb mothafuckas made up. 'bama' aint slow, ALBAMA aint dumb, we doin there what every body else doin mane. and when they hear 334 MOBB its gon be alot of mothafuckas slappin theyself like 'damn, 334 MOBB one of the best groups out the south', funny aint it? just watch fam, its a new day.
